Why is F1T Physical Therapy an out-of-network, cash-based practice?
By operating as an out-of-network, cash-based clinic, we put your care first—not insurance company rules. Traditional insurance models often limit session length, restrict the treatments a physical therapist can provide, and impose arbitrary visit caps. By removing insurance barriers, we offer 1-on-1, high-quality, continuous care tailored specifically to your performance goals without insurance interference or surprise bills.
Why don't you accept insurance or Medicare?
We choose not to contract with insurance providers or participate in Medicare so that we can deliver fully personalized, unrestricted care. Direct, fee-for-service care allows us to spend maximum time with each patient, utilize specialized interventions, and prioritize long-term performance and prevention rather than just short-term symptom relief. (Note: Patients covered by Medicare cannot be treated out-of-pocket for covered physical therapy services per federal guidelines).
Do I need a doctor's prescription (script) to start physical therapy?
We recommend coming in with a prescription/script from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) for your physical therapy records. However, under Direct Access laws, you can receive treatment without a script for up to 30 days. Beyond 30 days, a valid physician script will be required to continue care.
A superbill is a detailed receipt that provides the information your insurance company needs to determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement for out-of-network physical therapy services. If you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill after your complete plan of care.
The superbill typically includes information such as the date of service, services provided, diagnosis and procedure codes, and the amount you paid. You can then submit the superbill directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
Because every insurance plan is different, reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual out-of-network benefits, deductible, and plan requirements. I recommend contacting your insurance company to confirm if your plan provides out-of-network physical therapy benefits and what documentation is required.
Important: A superbill is not a claim submission or a guarantee of reimbursement. You are responsible for submitting the superbill to your insurance company and understanding your individual insurance benefits.
